Eat right to fight - fatigue
Do you suffer from Morning Fatigue? Do you wake up tired, arrive at work tired and stay tired throughout the whole day. You may think an early night is the answer yet it could be that you have not eaten enough fuel food the night before.
REMEDY:
Try and eat a dinner rich in complex carbohydrates - meals with beans,
rice or pasta as a base. If you don't want to eat a meal then try a
light snack, whole wheat muffins or a whole meal bread sandwich.
Do you wake up feeling hung-over most mornings but you've not been drinking? Do you eat rather a lot of sugary snacks while watching the telly!
REMEDY:
Reduce your sugar intake to avoid this hung-over, low blood sugar feeling.
Try popcorn to munch on or fruit, sugar free jams and wholemeal toast,
nuts and seeds.
Do you long for an afternoon siesta after eating lunch?
REMEDY:
If you are a sporadic eater or you eat too much sugar laden foods you
will easily experience low blood sugar from not eating enough or not
eating complex carbohydrates. Try to eat small amounts every 3-4 hours.
Avoid eating one large meal a day. If you suffer from a tiredness low
around the same time everyday, try to eat some fruit half an hour before
your usual fatigue sets in.
GENERAL:
Eat more complex carbohydrates. Reduce your fat intake. If none of the
above cure your tiredness, you may have a food allergy or suffer from
food sensitivity.
You can try to find the food substance that you think you're sensitive
to, eliminate it from your diet for two weeks and then slowly re-introduce
the food into your diet. If you are quickly fatigued eliminate this
food for a month or so, try it again until there is no longer a fatigue
reaction. If you are continually fatigued or have sudden fatigue, consult
your doctor for a blood test.
Finally, by establishing healthier nutritional eating habits you will have the energy to see you throughout the day and longer.
