Spinning was designed by Johnny Goldberg (aka Johnny G) endurance cyclist, martial arts expert, personal trainer and world class athlete. The son of a top African squash player he cultivated a love for sport from an early age, in the bike saddle from the age
of 5. "I had as much interest in the mental discipline as the physical". From the young age of 14 Johnny read books on Zen and human behaviour. In 1979 Johnny moved to Venice, California and became a staple at the world gym in the early 80's.

Change of Direction …
Johnny G ceased bodybuilding, he then changed his diet and outlook on training and became a personal trainer. Having found his true vocation in teaching, he soon became one of Los Angeles most in demand personal trainers, with clients including world-class athletes and celebrities. He first developed the concept in the early 1980's while training on a stationary bike. In 1989 Johnny G opened his first Spinning facility in Santa Monica, California. Initially using the modified Schwinn DX900 bikes, he soon found these to inappropriate for the intensity of the programme. In his home garage Johnny developed a new, more durable bike using the geometry of his racing bike. The initial concept was simple. No computers, bells or whistles. The bike was created like a racing bike with a weighted front wheel, fixed gear, an adjustable seat and handlebar.

Into the 90's
In 1992 Johnny befriended one of his clients, John Baudhuin, together they formed the company Mad Dogg Athletics, Inc. This became Johnny G's vehicle for commercial distribution of the bike and the Spinning programme. In 1994 Mad Dogg Athletic, Inc. signed an agreement with Schwinn Fitness, as a large international company. Schwinn agreed to distribute and manufacture the Schwinn Johnny G Spinner Pro to gyms across the United States and the World. In January 1996 Schwinn introduced the second generation of the Spinner bike, which incorporated over 30 production improvement from the original model. Spinning is now taught in over 1000 clubs and fitness facilities by more than 4000 instructions, in more than 30 countries worldwide.

How Many Calories Will I Burn & Can I Tone My Muscles Too??
Spinning is a superaerobic workout concept, having major benefit to the heart and lungs. " In just 40 minutes you can expect to burn an average of 500 calories, becoming extremely fit" says Johnny G Spinnings creator. Spinning not only defines the leg muscles, but it will also tone, arms, shoulders, abdominals, even including the neck muscles! Spinning is non-impact so you'll gain the aerobic benefits without the usual wear and tear of other cardiovascular workouts.

Johnny G's Ultimate Fitness Spinning Quotes.....
